【整理】Harry Potter’s A-Z_ Magical Alphabet
写在前面：
上一份斯哈A-Z的单词列表是凌澜自己从网上和原著里搜集整理编辑的，而这一份则是“正版”的：今天逛【Pottermore】相关的商店【The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 3/4】时偶然看到的，名字叫【Alphabet from Harry’s Room Signed/Unsigned Print】，它居然卖£279……QAQ。它的作者就是用了十年时间为所有魔法世界道具进行设计制作的那两位设计师：MiraphoraMina和Eduardo Lima，对他们致以崇高的敬意。在商品介绍里有一段话，贴过来：【This detailed illustrated print shows the Magical Alphabet which Harry Potter had in his bedroom in Godric's Hollow. This print also has gold foil embellishments, with an embossed stamp of authenticity.（凌澜渣翻：这幅详尽的插图印刷品来自戈德里克山谷里Harry Potter的卧室，是一张魔法界的字母表。这张巫师字母表用金箔装饰，有一个防伪的压花印章。）】
图片如下，长这个样子：
换句话说，Little Harry当年就是念着这个字母表学说话的，“A for Alchemy, B for Broomsticks…”萌翻了~~~【打滚^_^
据说这幅巫师字母表曾在电影中一闪而过，然而我印象中HP7-Part2的电影布景里Harry的卧室墙上（只展示了一面墙，就是Snape抱着Lily哭的时候背后那面……）有一幅装饰画是大大的字母“H”，另一幅是大大的单词“HARRY”【……所以说James和Lily果然也都是儿控吧。】总之……并没有这张巫师字母表……那么我也不知道它是从哪里来的了……如果有谁见到了能截图请联系凌澜，凌澜的好奇心快要爆炸了_(:зゝ∠)_
Ready？那么准备开始吧~用26个字母重温那些在Rowling的笔下诞生的句子，魔法世界，和永不毕业的霍格沃茨。
A for Alchemy（炼金术）
The ancient study of alchemy is concerned with making the Philosopher's Stone, a legendary substance with astonishing powers. The stone will transform any metal into pure gold. It also produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal.
古代炼金术涉及魔法石的炼造，这是一种具有惊人功能的神奇物质。魔法石能把任何金属变成纯金，还能制造出长生不老药，使喝了这种药的人永远不死。
B for Broomsticks（飞天扫帚）

C for Cauldron（坩埚）
… through the mist in front of him,he saw, with an icy surge of terror, the dark outline of a man, tall and skeletally thin, rising slowly from inside the cauldron.
…
The thin man stepped out of thecauldron, staring at Harry… and Harry stared back into the face that had haunted his nightmares for three years. Whiter than a skull, with wide, livid scarlet eyes and a nose that was flat as a snakes with slits for nostrils…
Lord Voldemort had risen again.
……透过眼前的白雾，他毛骨悚然地看到坩埚中缓缓升起一个男人的黑色身形，又高又瘦，像一具骷髅。

伏地魔复活了。
D for Dragon（龙）
… and finally the dragon had room to stretch its wings: Turning its horned head toward the cool outside air it could smell beyond the entrance, it took off, and with Harry, Ron, and Hermione still clinging to its back, it forced its way through the metal doors, leaving them buckled and hanging from their hinges, as it staggered into Diagon Alley and launched itself into the sky.
……巨龙终于找到了可以展翅的空间，它有角的脑袋转向门口，闻到了外面凉爽的空气。它迈步而出，用力挤出金属门，哈利、罗恩和赫敏仍然紧紧抓着它的后背。变了形的门在铰链上摇摇晃晃，巨龙蹒跚着走进了对角巷，然后腾空而起。
E for Eye（眼睛）
“Look...at....me...”he whispered.
The green eyes found the black, but after a second, something in the depths of the dark pari seemed to vanish, leaving them fixed, blank, and empty. The hand holding Harry thudded to the floor, and Snape moved no more.
“看……着……我……”他轻声说。
绿色的眼睛遇到了黑色的，但一秒钟后，那一双黑眸深处的什么东西似乎消失了，它们变得茫然、呆滞而空洞。抓住哈利的那只手垂落在地上，斯内普不动了。
F for Frog（青蛙）
… Dumbledore says he doesn't care what they do as long as they don't take him off the Chocolate Frog Cards.
……邓布利多说，只要不把他从巧克力蛙的卡片中撤下来，他们做什么他都不在乎。
G for Goblin（妖精）
“You probably don’t remember –” Harry began.
“—that I was the goblin who showed you to your vault, the first time you ever visited Gringotts?” said Griphook. “I remember,Harry Potter. Even amongst goblins, you are very famous.”
“你可能不记得了——”哈利说道。
“——在你第一次去古灵阁时，就是我领你们去了你的金库，是不是？”拉环说，“我记得，哈利·波特。即使是在妖精中间，你也是很著名的。”
H for Hat（帽子）
Only a true Gryffindor could have pulled that out of the hat.
只有真正的格兰芬多，才能把它从帽子里抽出来。
I for Invisible（隐形的）
“You’ll stay with me?”
“Until the very end,” said James.
“They won’t be able to see you?”asked Harry.
“We are part of you,” said Sirius.“Invisible to anyone else.”
“你们会陪着我？”
“直到最后。”詹姆说。
“他们看不见你们？”哈利问。

J for Jelly Beans（果冻糖豆）
He smiled and popped the golden-brown bean into his mouth. Then he choked and said, “Alas! Ear wax!”
他笑着把那颗金棕色的豆子丢进嘴里。接着他呛得喘不过气来，说：“啊，倒霉！是耳屎！”
K for Keys（钥匙）
“We're looking for a big, old-fashioned one-- probably silver, like the handle.”
“我们要寻找一把古色古香的大钥匙——可能是跟门把手一样的银色。”
L for Lightning（闪电）
Inside, just visible, was a baby boy,fast asleep. Under a tuft of jet-black hair over his forehead they could see a curiously shaped cut, like a bolt of lightning.
毛毯里裹着一个男婴，睡得正香。孩子前额上一绺乌黑的头发下边有一处伤口，形状很奇怪，就像一道闪电。
M for Mushroom（蘑菇）
Opposite Harry, Tonks was entertaining Hermione and Ginny by transforming her nose between mouthfuls. Screwing up her eyes each time with the same pained expression she had wornback in Harry's bedroom, her nose swelled to a beak-like protuberance that resembled Snape's, shrank to the size of a button mushroom and then sprouted a great deal of hair from each nostril.
在哈利对面，唐克斯一边吃饭一边给她的鼻子变形，逗赫敏和金妮开心。每次她都紧紧地闭上眼睛，露出她在哈利卧室里时露出的那种痛苦表情，她的鼻子忽而肿胀得像鸟嘴一样，看上去活脱脱是斯内普的鼻子，忽而又缩回去，变成圆球蘑菇一般大小，然后每个鼻孔里都冒出一大堆鼻毛。
N for Night（夜晚）
Your father is alive in you, Harry,and shows himself most plainly when you have need of him. How else could you produce that particular Patronus? Prongs rode again last night.
你爸爸活在你身上，哈利，在你需要他的时候，他在你身上表现得最清楚。不然你怎么能够产生那么特殊的守护神呢？尖头叉子昨晚凭借你而出现了。
O for Owl（猫头鹰）
We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please findenclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.
Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.
我们愉快地通知您，您已获准在霍格沃茨魔法学校就读。随信附上所需书籍及装备一览表。

P for Pumpkins（南瓜）
The rest of the school was happily anticipating their Halloween feast; the Great Hall had been decorated with the usual live bats, Hagrid's vast pumpkins had been carved into lanterns large enough for three men to sit in, and there were rumors that Dumbledore had booked a troupe of dancing skeletons for the entertainment.
学校里的其他同学都开开心心地参加万圣节的宴会，礼堂里已经像平常那样，用活蝙蝠装饰起来了。海格种的巨大南瓜被雕刻成了一盏盏灯笼，大得可以容三个人坐在里面。人们还传言说，邓布利多预定了一支骷髅舞蹈团，给大家助兴。
Q for Quill（羽毛笔）
“There,”said Umbridge sweetly, “we're getting better at controlling our temper already, aren't we? Now, you are going to be doing some lines forme, Mr Potter. No, not with your quill,” she added, as Harry bent down to open his bag. “You're going to be using a rather special one of mine. Here you are.”
She handed him a long, thin blackquill with an unusually sharp point.
“I want you to write, I must not tell lies,” she told him softly.
“不错，”乌姆里奇娇滴滴地说。“我们已经比较能够控制自己的情绪了，是不是？现在，你要为我写几个句子，波特先生。不，不是用你的羽毛笔，”看见哈利弯腰去打开书包，她赶紧补充道，“你要用的是我的一支很不同寻常的笔。给。”
她递给他一支细细长长、笔尖特别尖利的黑色羽毛笔。
“我要你写：我不可以说谎。”她语调轻柔地对他说。
R for Rabbit（兔子）
The little stories of the strangled rabbit and the young boy and girl he lured into a cave were most suggestive… ‘I can make them hurt if I want to… ’
那只被吊死的兔子，还有被他骗进山洞的那一男一女两个孩子的故事就很能说明问题……‘我只要愿意就能让他们受伤’……
S for Snake（蛇）
… being able to talk to snakes was what Salazar Slytherin was famous for. That's why the symbol of Slytherin House is a serpent.
……能跟蛇说话是萨拉查·斯莱特林的著名能力。所以，斯莱特林学院的象征才是一条毒蛇。
T for Toad（蟾蜍/癞蛤蟆）
His eyes are as green as a freshpickled toad,
His hair is as dark as a blackboard.
I wish he was mine, he's reallydivine,
The hero who conquered the Dark Lord.
他的眼睛绿得像刚腌过的癞蛤蟆，
他的头发像黑板一样乌黑潇洒，

U for Unicorn（独角兽）
“That is because it is a monstrous thing, to slay a unicorn,”said Firenze.“Only one who has nothing to lose, and everything to gain, would commit such a crime. You have slain something pure and defenseless to save yourself, and you will have but a half-life, a cursed life, from the moment the blood touches your lips.”

V for Vapour（蒸汽）
“A corporeal Patronus?”
“A - what?”said Harry.
“Your Patronus had a clearly defined form? I mean to say, it was more than vapour or smoke?”
“一个肉身的守护神？”
“一个——什么？”哈利问。
“你的守护神具有清楚明确的形态？我的意思是，它不仅仅是蒸汽或烟雾？”
W for Wizard（巫师/男巫）
“You are,” said Snape to Lily. “You are a witch. I’ve been watching you for a while. But there’s nothing wrong with that. My mum’s one, and I’m a wizard.”

X for Xmas Tree（圣诞树）
The Hogwarts staff, demonstrating acontinued desire to impress the visitors from Beauxbatons and Durmstrang,seemed determined to show the castle at its best this Christmas. When the decorations went up, Harry noticed that they were the most stunning he had yetseen inside the school. Everlasting icicles had been attached to the banistersof the marble staircase; the usual twelve Christmas trees in the Great Hall were bedecked with everything from luminous holly berries to real, hooting,golden owls, and the suits of armor had all been bewitched to sing carols whenever anyone passed them.
霍格沃茨的师生不断表现出想给布斯巴顿和德姆斯特朗的客人留下深刻印象的欲望，他们似乎决心在这个圣诞节展示出城堡的最佳风貌。学校里张灯结彩地布置起来，哈利发现他进校以来从未见过这么漂亮的装饰。大理石楼梯的扶手上挂满了永远不化的冰柱，礼堂里惯常摆放的那十二棵圣诞树上，装饰着各种各样的小玩艺儿，从闪闪发亮的冬青果，到不停鸣叫的活的金色猫头鹰。那些盔甲都被施了魔法，只要一有人经过，它们就会演唱圣诞颂歌。
Y for Yawn（呵欠/哈欠）
And along a new and darker street he moved, and now his destination was in sight at last, the Fidelius Charm broken,though they did not know it yet ... And he made less noise than the dead leaves slithering along the pavement as he drew level with the dark hedge, and steered over it ...
They had not drawn the curtains; he saw them quite clearly in their little sitting room, the tall black-haired man in his glasses, making puffs of colored smoke erupt from his wand for the amusement of the small black-haired boy in his blue pajamas. The child was laughing and trying to catch the smoke, to grab it in his small fist ...
A door opened and the mother entered,saying words he could not hear, her long dark-red hair falling over her face.Now the father scooped up the son and handed him to the mother. He threw his wand down upon the sofa and stretched, yawning...
他走在一条新的、更加昏暗的街道上，目的地终于出现在眼前，赤胆忠心咒已经破了，但他们还不知道……他发出的声音比路面上滑动的枯叶还轻，悄悄走到黑乎乎的树篱前，向里面望去……
他们没有拉上窗帘，他清楚地看到他们正在小小的客厅里，高个子、戴眼睛的黑发男子，在用魔杖喷出一阵阵彩色的烟雾，逗那穿蓝睡衣的黑发小男孩开心。那孩子咯咯地笑着去抓烟雾，捏在小拳头里……
一扇门开了，母亲走进来，说着他听不到的话，她那深红色的长发垂在脸旁。父亲把儿子抱起来交给母亲，然后把魔杖扔到沙发上，伸了个懒腰，打着哈欠……
Z for Zizz（睡觉）
The circular office looked just as it always did; the delicate silver instruments stood on spindle-legged tables,puff-ing smoke and whirring; portraits of previous headmasters and headmistresses dozed in their frames, and Dumbledore's magnifi-cent phoenix,Fawkes, stood on his perch behind the door, watching Harry with bright interest.
这间圆形办公室看上去还和往常一样：细长腿的桌子上摆着许多精致的银器，它们旋转着，喷出一小股一小股的烟雾。那些男男女女老校长们的肖像都在各自的相框里打着瞌睡。邓布利多那只气派非凡的凤凰福克斯站在门后的栖枝上，兴趣盎然地注视着哈利。
P.S.整个Harry Potter series里面就没有jelly beans这个东西……该说muggle们的糖果果然不受待见麽……所以我用了比比多味豆代替。
P.P.S.关于最后一个字母Z：西方漫画常以zzz表示画中人物在睡觉，有人说是出自于doze(打瞌睡)和snooze(小睡) 二字，也有人说z是模拟鼾声。无论如何，俚语常以zizz指「睡觉」，作名词、动词都可以。比如He felt refreshed after a good zizz. | He left while I was zizzing. |To catch/get/make some/a few z's. | I went to bed to make some z's as soon as Igot home. | I'm giving it some zeds。（Zed是字母z的名词指代）
依然是全系列都没有zizz这个词，于是用了出现了许多次的doze。
